But in multiplayer mode they take up too much of the screen and it is hard to see anything for a few seconds. Announcements like fastest lap or winner of the race are fine in single player mode. This is somewhat logical, since you get separate engine noises for both players, but I would prefer to automatically adjust the noise level down (without going to the preferences each time). But in two player mode the engine noise appears to double, making it very dominant. In single player music and engine noise is fairly well balanced. I refer to the configuration two players with gamepads, grand prix, windows 7 and lcd tv via hdmi. I follow the game for quite a while and I must say it definitely improved a lot recently Βut first congratulations to the new version of STK. I am new to this forum and also have a few comments to the multiplayer mode. Adding a 'single player race', 'split screen' icon at the main menu might partially help(?), but it doesn't really go with the design of the GUI.īesides missing that message there is also the fact that you have to select 'race' with the device you want to use, you can't use a mouse/keyboard to select race, then use the gamepad (this at least would be solved with two icons (single/split-screen). I have seen a forum post (in a German forum) just about how to use a gamepad, people thinking that gamepads only work with more than one player etc.Īnd there is indeed a message that you should press 'fire' now. Yes, while the new GUI is really nice, we might be missing someone to look at usability for novices. More fixes and enhancements may also make their way into the next release.Madbad :The new way multiplayer is handled is not really intuitive:Īt first ive thinked too that the multiplayer support on the same pc was dropped. And more small fixes and quality-of-life improvements. A reset password button for easier management of STK accounts Many instances of text being cut (especially in translations) have been fixed Many minor menu UI changes are also included in the next release, including : Some other minor changes have made their way into the race UI, like the flag next to the lap counter to clarify its function, and the same flag used next to a kart icon to mean it has finished the race. The minimap is also displayed before the race's start, to allow players to take a look at it before racing begins. You can choose in the options to display it on the right side above the speedometer, or to not have it displayed at all, according to your preference. The minimap's default size is now bigger, to help using it with a quick glance. This is especially useful for the nitro challenges, where the very uneven progression of the old gauge caused frustration. You can tell in a glance how much you have. The nitro gauge is now much more accurate, and slightly bigger. It won't be maxed out just because you did a skid or used some nitro ! The maximum displayed speed by the speedometer is now significantly higher (40 instead of 30 previously, with 25 being the base SuperTux speed) in addition to increased accuracy. The speedometer and nitro gauge have received a major overhaul. Some informational text, like the "final lap" message, now also uses a bigger font, while being put higher to not obstruct vision. Please note that this is the UI for the regular computer version (Windows/Linux/Max), the Android version share some of these changes but keep touchscreen specifities.Īll the texts now receive a black outline making them much more legible, especially in tracks where the color didn't contrast enough with white text.
